AL-Halbusi calls for legislation to protect women

H.E the Speaker Mohammad al-Halbusi called on Saturday for legislation to prevent violence against women in Iraq.
Speaking at the Tenth International Conference to Combat Violence against Women, al-Halbusi said that crimes against women necessitate the development of laws to prevent those abusing the lives of Iraqis, explaining that the increase in violence against women is due to the emergence of political chaos and confusion among the masses.
“We seek legislation that limits violence against women,” he said, adding that violence against women does not resemble the typical epidemic occurring in other countries.
