Al-Halbusi discusses with the US Presidential Envoy bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them at all levels

The Speaker Mohammed Al Halbusi received in his office on Tuesday the Special US Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition, Brett McGurk, in the presence of the US Ambassador Douglas Silliman.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and international efforts to support Iraq at all levels and reviewed the most important political and security developments in Iraq and the region in addition to the efforts of the political parties in forming the government.

Al-Halbusi stressed that the COR is keen to abide by the constitutional dates on the introduction of the new cabinet, and the ambitions to be in accordance with the aspiration of the Iraqi people, and contribute to support the pillars of democracy in the country.

“Iraq is moving to a new stage requires consensus by all political parties to reach a unified vision on the form of the next government, which will be the starting point for the advancement of economic and security files in the country,” al-Halbusi added, praising at the same time the US support for Iraq at all levels.

For his part, McGurk said that his country is continuing to support Iraq and its people, pointing to the importance of increased coordination between Iraq and USA; in order to accelerate the restoration of stability to the country.
