Al-Halbusi, Qatari Foreign Minister discuss issues of mutual interest

The Speaker Mohammed al-Halbusi received on Wednesday the Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al Thani and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of enhancing joint cooperation in all fields.
Al-Halbusi stressed Iraq’s keenness to strengthen and develop its economic and commercial relations and its efforts to build balanced international relations based on respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs.
The Speaker called on the State of Qatar to contribute to the reconstruction campaign and activate the investment side with Iraq, stressing that the parliament seeks to provide all facilities through laws and legislation that would create a safe environment for investment.
He also called for giving priority to employ Iraqi manpower within the Qatari investments planned to be established in Iraq.
With regard to the anti-terrorism issue in Iraq and the region, al-Halbusi stressed Iraq’s prominent role in the elimination of ISIS on behalf of the world through the sacrifices made by the Iraqi security forces to defend the security of the entire region and liberate the country from extremist terrorist groups.
For his part, the Qatari foreign minister affirmed his country’s readiness to open all horizons of cooperation and strengthen the historical friendship with the Iraqi government and people.
