Al-Kaabi calls for activating partnership and cooperation agreement with the EU

The First Deputy Speaker Mr. Hassan Karim al-Kaabi received on Monday, December 17, 2018, the delegation of the European Union that is currently visiting Baghdad in preparation for the effective implementation of the partnership and cooperation agreement signed between Iraq and the Union, 2017.
During his chairmanship of the joint meeting between the EU delegation and the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, al-Kaabi said: “Iraq has strong relations with many European countries and international organizations, especially the European Union, and the partnership and cooperation agreement was complementary to further strengthen this relationship in the various aspects of the agreement.”
Al-Kaabi called for implementing the terms of the partnership agreement on ground to enhance political relations, combat terrorism, promote human rights, and cooperate in the field of energy and services.
For his part, the head of the EU delegation David McElster stressed the desire of the European Union to cooperate with Iraq. “The aim of our visit today is to show our support for the new government of Iraq and to open new horizons of cooperation between us,” he added.
