COR confirms 3 cabinet Ministers
In its 19th plenary session held on Tuesday December 18, 2018 the Iraqi Council of Representatives voted to approve three candidates and rejected voting on the candidates for Ministries of Education and Displacement and Migration.
The session was chaired by H.E the Speaker Mohammad al-Halbusi and attended by 276 MPs.
At the outset of the session, the Council voted to finish the third paragraph of the agenda to vote on the ministerial formation.
Nuri al-Dulaimi, Qusay al-Suhail and Abdul Ameer al-Hamdani were confirmed to be Ministers of Planning, Higher Education and Culture.
The nominees for Minister of Education Saba Khayer Allah and Minister of Displacement and Migration Hanaa Amanoeel both failed to get enough votes, in addition to postponing the vote on the candidates of the Ministries of Interior, Defense and Justice.
The newly voted on Ministers will be sworn in at the next Thursday session. The Speaker called the Prime Minister to submit new candidates within a maximum of 48 hours.
Wednesday December 19 was set to elect Chairmen, Members and Rapporteurs of the parliamentary committees, to be supervised by the Presidency of the Council.
The session was then adjourned to next Thursday 20/12/2018.
