Al-Kaabi, head of the United Nations Development Program sign “Parliamentary Development Institute”

The First Deputy Speaker Mr. Hassan Karim Al Kaabi signed on Thursday 20/12 a Memorandum of Understanding with the head of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq Mr. Gerardo Noto. The aim is to develop the legislative and supervisory work of the legislative institution and its parliamentary committees, and develop the performance of the Members of the Council of Representatives in addition to the staff.
For his part, Mr. Noto considered the establishment of the Parliamentary Development Institute an important and strategic step to build and improve the capacities of the members the Council of Representatives and to support their performance within their parliamentary committees. He appreciated the role of First Deputy Speaker in maintaining coordination with UNDP in order to develop the Iraqi legislative institution.
The signing of the memorandum took place in the office of Mr. Hassan Al-Kaabi in the Council building and in the presence of the member of the Committee of Foreign Relations Mr. Rami Al-Sakini, and the Director General of the Research Department in the Council of Representatives.
