Al-Kaabi: COR is intent on passing the Law of the Rights of Martyrs of the Speicher to ensure the rights of their families

The First Deputy Speaker Mr. Hassan Karim al-Kaabi called for adopting procedures to address the international Security Council to consider Speicher massacre a “genocide” and to pursue the rest of the perpetrators, whether they are inside or outside Iraq. Al-Kaabi stressed the intent of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to pass the Rights of Martyrs of the Spyker Law to ensure the rights of their families and to ensure the exclusion of the perpetrators of the crime whose hands are stained with blood of the martyrs from general or special amnesty in future.
In a statement issued on Wednesday 12/6/2019, on the 5th anniversary of the Speicher massacre in which ISIS killed at least 1700 Iraqi Air Force cadets in an attack on Camp Speicher in Tikrit, al-Kaabi stated: “Years have passed and the Iraqi people and the families of the martyrs who have been killed are still suffering as if the tragedy were happening again, which makes us as a legislative authority responsible for paying pay off for the blood that was shed treacherously”.
Al-Kaabi remarked that according to the draft law, which is submitted by the Presidency of the Republic and will be approved by the Council of Representatives in the short period to come, Speicher martyrs will enjoy all the rights of martyrs like their counterparts in the Ministry of Defense, in addition to obligating the concerned parties to care for their relatives by providing material and moral support to them.
