Parliament Speaker receives Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs

 

The Parliament Speaker Mr. Mohammed al-Halboosi received on Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Yousif bin Alawi and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the relations between the two countries and ways of supporting them, in addition to issues of mutual interest.

Al-Halboosi welcomed the decision of the Sultanate of Oman to open its embassy in Iraq, saying it was a positive step to develop relations between the two brotherly peoples in the framework of mutual interests.

The meeting discussed issues and developments in the region and the most important challenges and risks due to the continuation of tension and crises, stressing the need to find approaches to calm and maintain stability and work on joint coordination on regional issues.

The Speaker appreciated the role of the Sultanate of Oman and its policy of calm, praising the development of relations between the two countries at the level of government and parliament.

For his part, the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the democratic experience in Iraq and the development and stability achieved after the victory on ISIS, stressing the importance of developing relations and coordination of positions between the two countries in Arab and international fields to resolve conflicts and crises in the region in accordance with the principle of dialogue, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.
