Deputy Speaker, Iran FM meet in Tehran
The Iraqi delegation headed by Deputy Speaker Dr. Bashir al-Haddad visited Iranian Foreign Ministry headquarters in Tehran and were received by Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. During the meeting, they reviewed the overall political situation and the current events in the region and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
During the meeting, they discussed the regional developments and a number of issues of common interest. Al-Haddad stressed, “The stability of the region is of concern to all of us”, adding, “Iraq works to calm the situation and defuse the crisis while maintaining its sovereignty. We will not allow using our territory to attack neighboring countries. All the regional countries should intensify their efforts and resort to negotiation to resolve international disputes”.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the Iraqi delegation’s visit and for holding meetings with the Iranian Shura Council and officials in the Islamic Republic, noting the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s efforts to stabilize the situation in the region, and confirmed the keenness of the Islamic Republic to support the Iraqi people in strengthening the pillars of security and stability.
