The Parliament Speaker makes a phone call to his counterpart in the Kingdom of Bahrain

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi made, on Friday, a phone call to the Parliament Speaker of the Kingdom of Bahrain Fawzia Abdullah Zainal.

H.E said during the call that the right to demonstrate is legitimate in all democratic systems, but the attack on diplomatic missions and facilities and its safety in Iraq is a red line and can not be allowed at all, pointing out that there is official and popular condemnation of such outlawed practices that threaten the diplomatic missions and its security and workers safety.

“We hope that such illegal acts will not affect Iraq’s relations with the Arab countries in general and the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular, especially after Iraq has made great strides in its openness to its Arab and regional environment,” the Speaker added, stressing the continued efforts of the Parliament to strengthen relations with Arab, Asian and international parliaments, to serve the peoples.

The Parliament Speaker also stressed that the Iraqi government has taken all the necessary and prompt measures to arrest those responsible and bring them to court and provide necessary protection for the embassy building, and that it will not tolerate such attacks.
