Al-Halboosi receives Adviser to South Korean President for Foreign Affairs

 

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received, on Monday, the Adviser to the South Korean President for foreign affairs Han Pyeong-du, and his accompanying delegation of the heads of the Parliament blocks of the ruling party, the opposition and the South Korean ambassador to Iraq.

During the meeting, the Parliament Speaker discussed the relations between the two countries, stressing the need to strengthen them in the economic fields, calling for urging Korean companies to expand their investments in Iraq and contribute to the process of construction and development in liberated cities.

H.E. pointed out that Iraq today is stronger than it was, after its victory over terrorism, and that the time has come to build a broad economic relationship and partnership between the two countries and invest this relationship to achieve the common interests of the two peoples.

The Speaker stressed that the policy of the Iraqi Council of Representatives is continuing to push the government and encourage it to develop diplomatic relations and strengthen partnership with the Republic of South Korea and the countries of Asia in general, and H.E. thanked the President of the National Assembly for his keenness to develop parliamentary relations with Iraq, which will deal with a positive spirit to expand it, praising his invitation to visit Seoul, and invited him to visit Baghdad.

For his part, the South Korean President’s adviser said that Iraq has achieved stability and overcome the great difficulties, stressing the need to strengthen cooperation between the government and parliamentarians, while the heads of the ruling party blocks and the opposition in the National Assembly of Korea expressed their desire to enhance parliamentary cooperation with Iraq and contribute to the process of construction and development in all fields.

The Head of the Department of Asia and Australia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has attended the meeting.
