Al-Halboosi addresses a letter to the delegates attending the World Heritage Committee Conference

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi has addressed a letter to the heads of Arab and foreign delegations attending the World Heritage Committee’s 43rd session organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, where Iraq’s parliamentary and governmental effort is pursuing to put the historic Babylon city within the World Heritage List.

H.E. has said in the letter that the Babylonian civilization is the greatness of the human mind as it accomplished more than seven thousand years ago, art, architecture, thought and law, adding that the Iraqis defended Babel against the bad guys in the past and in the present, noting that after the victory over ISIS terrorist monsters who destroyed the monuments of civilization in Mosul, the protection of Iraq and the historic city of Babylon has become the responsibility of the free world and voting for it on the World Heritage List is a protection of human heritage.

The letter was distributed to all heads of delegations by the Iraqi Minister of Culture and the delegation of the Parliamentary Culture and Information Committee participating in the conference.
