Al-Halboosi receives the Chairman of the National Investment Authority

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received, on Thursday, the Chairman of the National Investment Authority Sami al-Aaraji to discuss the investment of land surrounding the Baghdad International Airport, under Cabinet Resolution No. 175 of 2019.

The Chairman of the National Investment Authority presented, during the meeting, a detailed presentation to the Parliament Speaker on giving the land surrounding the Baghdad International Airport for investment, and confirmed sending all the file to the Office of Financial Supervision and the Integrity Commission, according to H.E. directions, to check all data and procedures and their compatibility with the laws in force and the authority of the National Investment Authority and the Cabinet.

Regarding the complaints of legal irregularities and waste of public funds, al-Aaraji said that the investment includes 16 thousand acres within the borders of the airport, which is purely government property, because it is palaces and former security camps, and there is no intersection with any interest of the citizens, pointing out that the project is an investment opportunity for all according to legal contexts in force.

For his part, the Parliament Speaker stressed the support of the House of Representatives for efforts to activate the private sector and the National Investment Authority to find real investment projects contribute to provide job opportunities for the unemployed and reduce unemployment.
