Al-Halboosi receives elders, dignitaries and religious scholars of Basra province

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Sunday, received a number of elders, dignitaries and religious scholars in the province of Basra and in its districts, in the presence of the First Deputy Hassan al-Kaabi, the second deputy Bashir Haddad and heads of parliamentary blocs.

During the meeting, H.E. listened to the problems that the governorate suffers of and how to deal with them in terms of services and other files, including compensation due to floods and flush floods, the spread of the drug phenomenon and its impact on youth and combating them.

“Basra is a common concern to all Iraqis because it gave to Iraq and that everyone is obliged to respond favorably to it,” the Speaker said, adding that the Parliament is seeking during this session and in coordination with the government to work to resolve the most important problems of the province and develop radical solutions to the file of services in it.

He continued that “the House of Representatives set a priority for Basra in the general budget and will continue to strengthen it in future budgets taking into account the recycling of surplus to its budget next year, and will seek to find a remedy to improve the social conditions of the poor income, and support and development of the private sector and investment to provide jobs and eliminate unemployment”.

The Speaker called on the elders and religious scholars in the province of Basra and its districts to strengthen the social fabric in all its components and boost the political stability to promote the process of building and reconstruction.
