Al-Halboosi meets Amir of Kuwait

 

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi and his accompanying delegation met on Sunday with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah to discuss means of investing funds allocated for the reconstruction of Iraq at the Kuwait International Donors Conference.

At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic, the PM and the Representatives of the Parliament to the State of Kuwait and its people, expressing Iraq’s keenness to strengthen relations in all fields.

H.E. appreciated the positions of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir in support of Iraq at the international donor conference, stressing the need to activate reconstruction projects that support the Iraqi government to meet the needs of the citizen.

“We came to the State of Kuwait with the executive officials of the government to discuss the files related to the special projects for the reconstruction of Iraq from the grants that were allocated in the Kuwait International Conference, especially related to the field of health and education,” the Speaker said, calling for the formation of joint committees to study and start implementation.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers and Governors gave a presentation on the projects needed by the provinces, including those related to services and infrastructure, especially cities liberated from ISIS terrorist organization.

Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, in the presence of the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, said: “We are always ready to help Iraq and stand with it as it has stood for years in its fight against terrorism,” adding that Kuwait will do its utmost to fulfill its obligations decided in Kuwait International Conference of donors, and will seek to urge countries to fulfill their commitments, wishing the Iraqi government and people more stability and progress.
