Parliament Speaker visits the holy city of Karbala


The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi visited the holy city of Karbala on Monday and met with security commanders and governor of Karbala to discuss security and service preparations for the province to mark the anniversary of the 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein “pbuh”.

H.E. stressed his keenness to visit the city in conjunction with this anniversary to identify the most important preparations to secure the ceremony.

The meeting discussed the importance of meeting the requirements of the city in terms of visitors, providing advanced transportation facilities such as railways and highways, providing advanced yards to accommodate the number of visitors, and discussing the formation of a federal institution concerned with visitors’ affairs.

H.E. praised the role of religious references, describing them as a safety valve for Iraq and Iraqis, and thanked the security forces and the local government in the province for their efforts to secure the requirements of the visit.

The Speaker held a press conference in the presence of the Governor of Karbala and security commanders, and made a tour in the streets of the city and met a number of citizens to see the services provided to visitors.
