The Parliament Hosts The UN Representative In Iraq

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received on Wednesday, at the House of Representatives, the United Nations representative, Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, hosting her at a meeting attended by his deputies and heads of parliamentary blocs.

During the hosting, Ms. Hennis-Plasschaert presented the proposals of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), which contained immediate, short-term and medium-term measures, including reforms to the electoral system, the security sector, anti-corruption file, amending the constitution, enacting a number of laws, the Assets Declaration Act, Federal Court, Social Security, Housing Crisis, Oil and Gas, the reconstruction council, amend the law to encourage investment and public-private partnership.

H.E. the Speaker stressed the solidarity of all political forces in the Parliament to proceed with the necessary legislation, especially the reform laws that have been mentioned, whether concerned with the electoral system or with regard to providing the requirements of decent life for citizens in various sectors, calling on the Executive Authority to send the remaining laws urgently, which the Parliament will not save any effort in approving them to address the failures of previous years.
