AL-Kaabi chairs meeting of   Air Navigation Corporation officials to discuss partnership with foreign companies

In the implementation of the directive of the Presidency of the Council of Representatives at Tuesday’s session, Mr. Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi chaired an expanded meeting organized by the Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee. The meeting was attended by the head of the Iraqi Air Navigation Company and the advanced administrative and technical staff in the company to discuss the work of the foreign companies under the partnership contracts between them and the Iraqi side.

Al-Kaabi said during the meeting that the transport sector is currently among the most important sectors worldwide. He stressed the necessity for our country to pay greater attention to this sector to diversify its resources on the one hand and to stop the waste of hard currency on partnerships with foreign companies that can be accomplished by Iraqi staff on the other.

He added that those who believe that Iraq is devoid of scientific competencies that are capable of managing some complex technical matters are delusional and wrong. On the contrary, Iraq has sound scientific competencies that are able to handle multiple tasks including air navigation, radars and airspace surveillance and they acquired extensive experience through courses, as well as working with foreign staff.

He stressed that managing the atmosphere is a sovereign issue and preserving the country’s interests must be present in any future dealings with regard to our foreign policies or concluding agreements and partnerships. Iraq no longer needs foreign trust partnerships of any kind.  “We are able to manage our institutions in accordance with international standards and our experts are qualified to take their responsibilities, in front of their people and country”, al-Kaabi added.

During the meeting, they discussed the partnership contract signed with a foreign company in the Iraqi airspace administration, and agreed on several recommendations regarding the work of these companies inside Iraq, especially after the end of their contract at the end of last year.
