Al-Haddad discusses with the Australian Ambassador to Iraq ways to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries, and the current preparations for holding the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr.  Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad, discussed today, Tuesday 14/9/2021, in his official office in Baghdad, with the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Mrs.  Paula Ganley, topics and issues of common interest, foremost of which are ways to enhance prospects for cooperation in all fields between the two friendly countries, as well as about discussing the upcoming parliamentary elections file and the current technical and logistical preparations by the Commission and the concerned authorities in the federal government.

The Deputy Speaker of the Council pointed out the importance of building economic partnerships and strengthening cooperation with friendly countries, especially the country is going through a sensitive stage and is on its way to a new democratic experience and holding early elections based on the demands of the masses, pointing out that there is a political agreement to participate in the elections to proceed with the political process, the desired reform and change through ballot boxes. And there is a legal and legitimate cover through the elections and the Independent Electoral Commission laws, and the government announced the readiness of the security committees and securing the polling stations while stressing that the Kurdistan Regional Government supports the holding of the elections on their specified date, and there are sincere efforts to urge voters to participate in all of Iraq.


For her part, the Australian Ambassador expressed her happiness for the opportunity to hold this meeting and discuss important files and issues with the presidency of the Council and affirmed her country’s support for the steps, efforts, and endeavors of the government to establish security and stability, create the atmosphere for the upcoming elections and enable citizens to participate in the democratic process and choose people’s representatives through the ballot boxes.  Towards a better future for Iraq.
