Al-Halbusi meets a number of Iraqi leading star athletes in Qatar

With his keenness to maintain contact with all sectors of society and his interest in Iraqi expatriate athletes who have raised the name of Iraq high over the previous years, the Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbusi met a number of leading Football stars in Qatar.
H.E. visited the former goalkeeper of the national team Captain Fattah Nessiyf to check on his health and congratulated him after his surgery.
H.E. met the two stars Khalil Mohammed Allawi and Karim Mohammed Allawi, as well as a prominent constellation of stars; in the forefront of them were Wamedh Mounir, Mijbil Fartous, Hisham Ali, former goalkeeper Ahmad Ali, Coach Adnan Hamad and Yasin Ammal and others.
During these meetings al-Halbusi discussed the reality of the Iraqi athletes there and listened to their needs and their future visions to serve the Iraqi football, where he stressed Iraq’s need to benefit from these experiences and possibilities in order to restore the glory of Iraqi football and its outstanding level.
“Football is a source of joy, pleasure and unity among the Iraqis, and we are determined to support all efforts to raise the level of football and overcome previous failures,” Al-Halbusi said.
He also stressed that the strengthening of bilateral relations with Qatar on the sport side was part of his talks with Qatari officials, especially with regard to supporting the lifting of the ban on playing in Baghdad, affirming at the same time that the stars of Iraq should take their role in serving Iraq’s sport and benefit from their experience in this aspect.
The Speaker called athletes to return to Iraq, and stressed the need to establish a friendly game involving all creators of creativity in the Iraqi sport of the elder players to maintain contact with current generations and activate the lifting of the ban on Iraqi stadiums.
