Al-Halboosi receives the Special Presidential Envoy of the International Coalition

 

BAGHDAD, IRAQ – The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received, on Monday, the US Special Presidential Envoy of the International Coalition Against Terrorism James Jeffrey and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting reviewed developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and the region, coordinating bilateral efforts on security developments on the Syrian border, stressing the need to complete the war against ISIS and eliminate terrorism completely and provide training and technical support to the security forces.

The meeting discussed the support of the United States of America for the efforts of stability through the return of displaced people and reconstruction of the liberated area, as well as the support of the Iraqi government to implement its program to provide services and eliminate corruption.

H.E. the Speaker praised the efforts of the USA in combating ISIS, contributing to the reconstruction of liberated areas and supporting Iraq in all fields.

For his part, Jeffrey reiterated his country’s support for Iraq in fighting against terrorism, reconstruction and achieving stability which will contribute to stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by US Chargé d’affaires in Iraq Mr. Joey Hood, Assistant of US Envoy, Mr. Kevin Greer, Director of the Military Political Section of the US Embassy, ​​Mr. Liam Wesley, and the Senior Executive Advisor to the Chargé d’affaires, Mr. Ali Hassoun.
