Al-Halboosi receives Turkish Foreign Minister

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received, on Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, accompanied by a Turkish parliamentary delegation, in the presence of Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara Hussein al-Khatib and a number of Iraqi MPs.

The meeting discussed means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, notably the economic and humanitarian, by contributing to the efforts to return the displaced and stabilize the liberated areas, in addition to the security file through the exchange of intelligence to eliminate terrorist cells and extremist ideology, as well as emphasizing on activating Parliamentary Friendship Committees.

The meeting tackled the formation of joint committees to solve the water problem.. and exchange expertise in this field, as well as procedures to facilitate the obtaining of entry visas between the two countries.

H.E. affirmed Iraq’s keenness to build balanced relations with all on the basis of respect for mutual sovereignty, and be a meeting point and a factor of balance and stability in the region, stressing the position of Iraq, which rejects any opposition on its territory threatens the peace of a neighbouring country.

Al-Halboosi praised the presence of the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, at the Baghdad Summit of the parliaments of the neighbouring countries of Iraq, describing his presence as a good message to the Iraqi street, pointing to the need to work with a unified vision of the countries of the region; which will results in positively on the ground.

For his part, Cavusoglu assured his country’s commitment to support Iraq and to enhance the prospects for cooperation at all levels.
