Al-Halboosi receives the new Resident Representative of the UNDP in Iraq

THE Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi received, on Tuesday, the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Iraq, Ms. Zeina Ali Ahmed and her accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, H.E. affirmed the importance of the work of the UN organizations and their role in the humanitarian work, especially UNDP projects in the liberated cities, which have been severely damaged by ISIS terrorist organization, pointing out the need to develop its reconstruction programs to help the return of the displaced.

The Speaker appreciated the work of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ninawa and Anbar and promised to urge the Government to expedite the payment of its financial share to the Program Fund in order to encourage donor countries to pay their obligations.

For her part, the director of the UNDP in Iraq praised the support of the Parliament Speaker for its programs in the field of reconstruction and restoration of infrastructure in cities liberated from ISIS organization, pointing out its willingness to work with the Iraqi government to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
