Al-Halboosi receives Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Affairs

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbooosi received the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Affairs Andrew Beck, accompanied by US Ambassador to Baghdad Matthew Tueller.

The meeting discussed the political developments in the country, the success of the Council of Representatives to complete the cabinet and vote on it, and discussed the political situation in the region, stressing the independence of Iraq and its safety, territorial unity and its leading role in the region to reduce tension and escalation and establish balanced relations with its Arab, regional and international environment, praising the International Coalition role in Iraq and its support for the Iraqi security forces.

The meeting also discussed the importance of activating investment and economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields including energy and electricity, which contributes to providing services and securing job opportunities for citizens.

For his part, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State stressed his country’s keenness to support Iraq and its independence to be a safe and capable state to fulfill its responsibilities towards its people, expressing full readiness to increase cooperation in all economic, developmental and security fields.
