Al-Halboosi receives the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

 

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi on Wednesday, received the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani to discuss bilateral relations, ways to enhance cooperation in accordance with mutual interests, the latest developments in regional and international conditions, and reduce escalation in the region.

The Parliament Speaker affirmed his condemnation of violations of Iraqi sovereignty, stressing the importance of respecting national sovereignty by all parties, and his refusal to use the country as a platform for settling accounts, or that Iraq is a party to any regional or international conflict, asserting the commitment of the Iraqi government to protect diplomatic missions.

H.E. urged the importance for the countries of the region to play an important role in reducing the tension in the area, with the need to keep Iraq away from regional conflicts and axes policy in order to achieve internal security that is reflected in the security of the whole region.

He also called on to activate economic and trade cooperation between Iraq and Qatar, and provide facilities for businessmen, and the contribution of investors in the reconstruction of Iraq, and investment in multiple areas.

For his part, the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed his country’s support for Iraq, its people, sovereignty and territorial integrity, pointing to the importance of coordination and joint work with regional and international parties to reduce tension and maintain the security and stability of the region, stressing that his visit is to support Iraq and its efforts in this field.
