Al-Halboosi receives the Finnish Foreign Minister
The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Thursday, received the Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pekka Haavisto.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations and strengthening friendship and cooperation between Iraq and Finland in the security and economic spheres in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries.
It discussed the joint efforts that contributed to the victory over ISIS terrorist organization and the role of Finland in the international coalition.
H.E. the Speaker stressed on the importance of continuing efforts to combat terrorism and cooperation in accordance with the principle of Iraq’s sovereignty and stability to eliminate ISIS, as well as continued cooperation in the file of returning the displaced to their homes and achieving stability in liberated areas.
The Parliament’s Speaker indicated the importance of the international community to stand with Iraq to overcome its economic crisis, calling for more cooperation between Iraq and Finland in the economic and investment fields and strengthening the role of Finnish companies operating in Iraq.
For his part, the Finnish Foreign Minister expressed his country’s aspiration to cooperate with Iraq and provide support in all fields in accordance with the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples, inviting His Excellency to visit Finland.
