Al-Halboosi receives SG of GCC

The Parliament’s Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Monday received the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Mr. Nayef Falah Mubarak al-Hajraf.
During the meeting, they discussed relations between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council and ways to strengthen them and emphasized the importance of adopting common issues and activating cooperation between brothers to solve problems related to the regional situation.
His Excellency the Speaker affirmed that the House of Representatives is keen to strengthen Iraq’s relations with its Arab surroundings and cooperate in all fields according to mutual interests, welcoming the recent success of the Gulf summit meeting, and the signing of al-Ula statement, indicating the importance of supporting all that would enhance stability throughout the region.
For his part, the President of the “GCC” affirmed that this visit to Iraq, after al-Ula summit, is to confirm the support and the steadfast position towards the government and people of Iraq and to support all that would contribute to achieving development and stability in Iraq and that there are many challenges facing the region and the aim of the GCC is to be present and interact positively with its brother countries issues.
The meeting also touched on a number of issues of common interest, including the electrical connection file and the necessity to follow up the decisions of the International Donors’ Conference and that the pledges made for projects should meet the needs of the Iraqi citizen.
