Al-Halboosi receives Head of International Investigation Team for ISIL terrorist crimes
The Parliament’s Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Wednesday received the Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigation Team to Promote Accountability for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by ISIL (Da’esh) in Iraq (UNITAD), Mr. Karim Khan.
His Excellency congratulated Mr. Khan on his election as the new Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, wishing him success in his new duties.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance accountability for crimes committed by the terrorist ISIL that allow their members to be tried before Iraqi courts for their crimes that amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, where H.E. the Speaker affirmed that the Parliament will proceed to pass the necessary legislation in this regard during the coming period.
