Al-Halboosi receives the Secretary-General of the Arab League
The Parliament’s Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Saturday received the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of current Arab issues and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
H.E. the Speaker affirmed Iraq’s keenness to strengthen its economic, security and political relations with its Arab surroundings, and that it supports the efforts of the Arab League in all initiatives of calm and dialogue and achieving rapprochement to overcome the current challenges.
For his part, Mr. Aboul Gheit affirmed the efforts of the League of Arab States to enhance Arab cooperation and establish security and stability, pointing to the interest in Iraq as its stability is an integral part of the stability of the region as a whole, inviting al-Halboosi to visit the League.
