Al-Halboosi and President of the Republic affirm early elections
The Parliament’s Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi, on Wednesday met in Sulaymaniyah, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih.
During the meeting, they discussed the political, security and service conditions, in addition to the health developments of the Coronavirus pandemic and ways to reduce its epidemic and economic repercussions in the country.
Emphasis was placed on the need to hold early and fair elections as a national entitlement, a fundamental pillar for the launch towards the desired reform, and the importance of completing the election law by the House of Representatives and sending it to the Presidency of the Republic.
The meeting stressed the necessity of uniting the ranks among the Iraqi forces and giving priority to the national interest in consolidating the sovereignty and stability of Iraq and facing the challenges the region is going through, as well as strengthening the relationship and joint work for a comprehensive solution to the outstanding problems between the federal government and the regional government according to the constitution in a way that secures the protection of the living rights of citizens and achieves a decent free life to them.
It was indicated to continue fighting terrorism and eliminating its hotbeds and cells to achieve security and stability for the people.
They also reviewed the latest developments at the regional and international levels, and the importance of supporting international efforts to promote peace in the region.
